THE COVENANTS - PART 6
THE SEVENTH COVENANT OF
GOD TO MAN
THE EVERLASTING
COVENANT
Isa
9:7; Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no
end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from
that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will
accomplish this.
The
Dispensation of Divine Government or the Dispensation of the Kingdom
is the grand finale of the plan of God for mankind. For some six
thousand years, God has set forth covenant relationships with man
knowing that they would fail in some regard; this one is different.
There will not be an opportunity for man to sin and cause the
promises of God to be made null and void. Man, in his eternal state
with God, will be perfect and sinless, therefore, there will be no
chance for this covenant to be adversely affected.
The
established government of God is spoken of many times in the Old
testament
Psalms
22:27-29; 27 All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to
the LORD, and all the families of the nations will bow down before
him, 28 for dominion belongs to the LORD and he rules over the
nations.
Psalms
72:8-11; 8 He will rule from sea to sea and from the River to
the ends of the earth. 9 The desert tribes will bow before him and
his enemies will lick the dust. 10 The kings of Tarshish and of
distant shores will bring tribute to him; the kings of Sheba and Seba
will present him gifts. 11 All kings will bow down to him and all
nations will serve him.
Psalms
86:9 All the nations you have made will come and worship before
you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name.
Isaiah
2:2-5; 2 In the last days the mountain of the LORD's temple will
be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above
the hills, and all nations will stream to it. 3 Many peoples will
come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD,
to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that
we may walk in his paths." The law will go out from Zion, the
word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4 He will judge between the nations
and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their
swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation
will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war
anymore. 5 Come, O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the
LORD.
Isaiah
4:2-3; 2 In that day the Branch of the LORD will be beautiful
and glorious, and the fruit of the land will be the pride and glory
of the survivors in Israel. 3 Those who are left in Zion, who remain
in Jerusalem, will be called holy, all who are recorded among the
living in Jerusalem.
Isaiah
9:1-7: 1 Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who
were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the
land of Naphtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the
Gentiles, by the way of the sea, along the Jordan-- 2 The people
walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the
land of the shadow of death a light has dawned. 3 You have enlarged
the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people
rejoice at the harvest, as men rejoice when dividing the plunder. 4
For as in the day of Midian's defeat, you have shattered the yoke
that burdens them, the bar across their shoulders, the rod of their
oppressor. 5 Every warrior's boot used in battle and every garment
rolled in blood will be destined for burning, will be fuel for the
fire. 6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the
government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful
Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the
increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will
reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and
upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and
forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.
Isaiah
11:1-10; 1 A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from
his roots a Branch will bear fruit. 2 The Spirit of the LORD will
rest on him-- the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit
of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of
the LORD-- 3 and he will delight in the fear of the LORD. He will not
judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with
his ears; 4 but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with
justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will
strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his
lips he will slay the wicked. 5 Righteousness will be his belt and
faithfulness the sash around his waist. 6 The wolf will live with the
lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion
and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. 7 The
cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and
the lion will eat straw like the ox. 8 The infant will play near the
hole of the cobra, and the young child put his hand into the viper's
nest. 9 They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain,
for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters
cover the sea. 10 In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a
banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his place
of rest will be glorious.
Isaiah
25:6-8; 6 On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a
feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine-- the best
of meats and the finest of wines. 7 On this mountain he will destroy
the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all
nations; 8 he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign LORD will
wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove the disgrace of
his people from all the earth. The LORD has spoken.
Jer
3:17 At that time they will call Jerusalem The Throne of the
LORD, and all nations will gather in Jerusalem to honor the name of
the LORD. No longer will they follow the stubbornness of their evil
hearts.
Daniel
2:35 Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver and the gold
were broken to pieces at the same time and became like chaff on a
threshing floor in the summer. The wind swept them away without
leaving a trace. But the rock that struck the statue became a huge
mountain and filled the whole earth.
Daniel
2:44 "In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set
up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to
another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an
end, but it will itself endure forever.
Daniel
7:13-14; 13 "In my vision at night I looked, and there
before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of
heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his
presence. 14 He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all
peoples, nations and men of every language worshiped him. His
dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his
kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.
Daniel
7:18 But the saints of the Most High will receive the kingdom and
will possess it forever-- yes, for ever and ever.'
Daniel
7:27 Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of the kingdoms
under the whole heaven will be handed over to the saints, the people
of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all
rulers will worship and obey him.'
Micah
4:1-4; 1 In the last days the mountain of the LORD's temple will
be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above
the hills, and peoples will stream to it. 2 Many nations will come
and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the
house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may
walk in his paths." The law will go out from Zion, the word of
the LORD from Jerusalem. 3 He will judge between many peoples and
will settle disputes for strong nations far and wide. They will beat
their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for
war anymore. 4 Every man will sit under his own vine and under his
own fig tree, and no one will make them afraid, for the LORD Almighty
has spoken.
Hab
2:14 For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory
of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
The
direct government of the nation of Israel by God Himself or His
earthly representatives and His eternal rule from the Millennium on
is called a theocracy. Although theocracy is not a biblical word,
the concept of God's rule on earth is thoroughly biblical. In a
theocracy human rulers interpret and carry out the divine ruler's
will. In Israel's early days God ruled through men such as Moses,
Aaron, and Joshua. Later, He ruled by using a group called the
judges.
Deuteronomy
17:14-20 allows for an Israelite monarchy under God and in
cooperation with other ruling officials. Afterward, when Israel
finally demanded a king, it was their attitude of being "like
all the nations" rather than the request itself that God
considered a rejection of His kingship. Samuel, the last judge and a
great prophet, insisted that having an earthly king did not excuse
Israel from obedience to the divine king. The human king was not an
absolute monarch.
Deut
17:14-20 14 When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving
you and have taken possession of it and settled in it, and you say,
"Let us set a king over us like all the nations around us,"
15 be sure to appoint over you the king the LORD your God chooses. He
must be from among your own brothers. Do not place a foreigner over
you, one who is not a brother Israelite. 16 The king, moreover, must
not acquire great numbers of horses for himself or make the people
return to Egypt to get more of them, for the LORD has told you, "You
are not to go back that way again." 17 He must not take many
wives, or his heart will be led astray. He must not accumulate large
amounts of silver and gold. 18 When he takes the throne of his
kingdom, he is to write for himself on a scroll a copy of this law,
taken from that of the priests, who are Levites. 19 It is to be with
him, and he is to read it all the days of his life so that he may
learn to revere the LORD his God and follow carefully all the words
of this law and these decrees 20 and not consider himself better than
his brothers and turn from the law to the right or to the left. Then
he and his descendants will reign a long time over his kingdom in
Israel.
1
Sam 8:5 They said to him, "You are old, and your sons do not
walk in your ways; now appoint a king to lead us, such as all the
other nations have."
1
Sam 12:1-25; 1 Samuel said to all Israel, "I have listened
to everything you said to me and have set a king over you. 2 Now you
have a king as your leader. As for me, I am old and gray, and my sons
are here with you. I have been your leader from my youth until this
day. 3 Here I stand. Testify against me in the presence of the LORD
and his anointed. Whose ox have I taken? Whose donkey have I taken?
Whom have I cheated? Whom have I oppressed? From whose hand have I
accepted a bribe to make me shut my eyes? If I have done any of
these, I will make it right." 4 "You have not cheated or
oppressed us," they replied. "You have not taken anything
from anyone's hand." 5 Samuel said to them, "The LORD is
witness against you, and also his anointed is witness this day, that
you have not found anything in my hand." "He is witness,"
they said. 6 Then Samuel said to the people, "It is the LORD who
appointed Moses and Aaron and brought your forefathers up out of
Egypt. 7 Now then, stand here, because I am going to confront you
with evidence before the LORD as to all the righteous acts performed
by the LORD for you and your fathers. 8 "After Jacob entered
Egypt, they cried to the LORD for help, and the LORD sent Moses and
Aaron, who brought your forefathers out of Egypt and settled them in
this place. 9 "But they forgot the LORD their God; so he sold
them into the hand of Sisera, the commander of the army of Hazor, and
into the hands of the Philistines and the king of Moab, who fought
against them. 10 They cried out to the LORD and said, `We have
sinned; we have forsaken the LORD and served the Baals and the
Ashtoreths. But now deliver us from the hands of our enemies, and we
will serve you.' 11 Then the LORD sent Jerub-Baal, Barak, Jephthah
and Samuel, and he delivered you from the hands of your enemies on
every side, so that you lived securely. 12 "But when you saw
that Nahash king of the Ammonites was moving against you, you said to
me, `No, we want a king to rule over us'-- even though the LORD your
God was your king. 13 Now here is the king you have chosen, the one
you asked for; see, the LORD has set a king over you. 14 If you fear
the LORD and serve and obey him and do not rebel against his
commands, and if both you and the king who reigns over you follow the
LORD your God-- good! 15 But if you do not obey the LORD, and if you
rebel against his commands, his hand will be against you, as it was
against your fathers. 16 "Now then, stand still and see this
great thing the LORD is about to do before your eyes! 17 Is it not
wheat harvest now? I will call upon the LORD to send thunder and
rain. And you will realize what an evil thing you did in the eyes of
the LORD when you asked for a king." 18 Then Samuel called upon
the LORD, and that same day the LORD sent thunder and rain. So all
the people stood in awe of the LORD and of Samuel. 19 The people all
said to Samuel, "Pray to the LORD your God for your servants so
that we will not die, for we have added to all our other sins the
evil of asking for a king." 20 "Do not be afraid,"
Samuel replied. "You have done all this evil; yet do not turn
away from the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart. 21 Do not
turn away after useless idols. They can do you no good, nor can they
rescue you, because they are useless. 22 For the sake of his great
name the LORD will not reject his people, because the LORD was
pleased to make you his own. 23 As for me, far be it from me that I
should sin against the LORD by failing to pray for you. And I will
teach you the way that is good and right. 24 But be sure to fear the
LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what
great things he has done for you. 25 Yet if you persist in doing
evil, both you and your king will be swept away."
After
the return from the Babylonian Captivity (about 539 B. C.), the
priest became a more important agent of God's rule. Prophets such as
Zechariah and Haggai mention the high priest as a ruler. Evidently,
some Jews expected the Messiah to exercise priestly as well as kingly
functions.
Zech
6:9-15; 9 The word of the LORD came to me: 10 "Take from
the exiles Heldai, Tobijah and Jedaiah, who have arrived from
Babylon. Go the same day to the house of Josiah son of Zephaniah. 11
Take the silver and gold and make a crown, and set it on the head of
the high priest, Joshua son of Jehozadak. 12 Tell him this is what
the LORD Almighty says: `Here is the man whose name is the Branch,
and he will branch out from his place and build the temple of the
LORD. 13 It is he who will build the temple of the LORD, and he will
be clothed with majesty and will sit and rule on his throne. And he
will be a priest on his throne. And there will be harmony between the
two.' 14 The crown will be given to Heldai, Tobijah, Jedaiah and Hen
son of Zephaniah as a memorial in the temple of the LORD. 15 Those
who are far away will come and help to build the temple of the LORD,
and you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me to you. This
will happen if you diligently obey the LORD your God."
Gen
14:17-18; 17 After Abram returned from defeating Kedorlaomer and
the kings allied with him, the king of Sodom came out to meet him in
the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King's Valley). 18 Then
Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest
of God Most High,
Ps
110:4 The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind: "You
are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek."
One
of the purposes of the New Testament is to show God's kingly rule
reestablished in Jesus Christ, the Prophet, Priest, and King
appointed by God.
Luke
24:19 "What things?" he asked. "About Jesus of
Nazareth," they replied. "He was a prophet, powerful in
word and deed before God and all the people.
Heb
7:17 For it is declared: "You are a priest forever, in the
order of Melchizedek."

19:16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING
OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
The
Millennium
The
thousand-year period mentioned in connection with the description of
Christ's coming to reign with His saints over the earth. Many Old
Testament as well as New Testament passages refer to the millennium.
Rev
19:11-16; 11 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a
white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he
judges and makes war. 12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his
head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows
but he himself. 13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his
name is the Word of God. 14 The armies of heaven were following him,
riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15
Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the
nations. "He will rule them with an iron scepter." He
treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16 On
his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND
LORD OF LORDS.
Rev
20:1-6; 1 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having
the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. 2 He
seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan,
and bound him for a thousand years. 3 He threw him into the Abyss,
and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the
nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he
must be set free for a short time. 4 I saw thrones on which were
seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the
souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for
Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the
beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads
or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand
years. 5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the
thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed
and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The
second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God
and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.
Is
11:4 but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice
he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the
earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will
slay the wicked.
Jer
3:17 At that time they will call Jerusalem The Throne of the
LORD, and all nations will gather in Jerusalem to honor the name of
the LORD. No longer will they follow the stubbornness of their evil
hearts.
Zech
14:9 The LORD will be king over the whole earth. On that day
there will be one LORD, and his name the only name.
These
and many other Old Testament passages are often taken to refer only
to the thousand-year period itself. However, it is often difficult
in these passages to see a clear dividing line between the earthly
period of the millennium and the eternal state of new heavens and
earth. Therefore, it is best to let one's teaching about the
millennium be drawn specifically from the words in Revelation 20.
The other great promises to Israel, while they have a temporary
fulfillment in the thousand years, still await the fulness of the new
heavens and new earth and the unhindered presence of Israel's king
and the church's husband-- Jesus Christ our Lord.
The
most important aspect of the millennium is the reign of Christ. Peter
taught that Christ now rules from the right hand of God. That rule
will last until His enemies are made His footstool. The apostle Paul
also understood Christ to be presently reigning in a period designed
to bring all of God's enemies underfoot. Thus the impact of Christ's
present rule over the earth from God's right hand must not be seen as
unrelated to His future reign during the millennium.
Acts
2:33-36; 33 Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received
from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you
now see and hear. 34 For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he
said, "`The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand 35
until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet." ' 36
"Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this
Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."
Ps
110:1 The LORD says to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand until
I make your enemies a footstool for your feet."
1
Cor 15:25-27; 25 For he must reign until he has put all his
enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
27 For he "has put everything under his feet." Now when it
says that "everything" has been put under him, it is clear
that this does not include God himself, who put everything under
Christ.
What
do we know about Heaven? What will we be doing for eternity? Will I
be bored after awhile? These are questions that we have probably
asked ourselves at one time or another. The Bible gives some pretty
clear answers to these questions as we study out the questions
surrounding "heaven".
1.
Heaven is the dwelling place of God and His holy angels. It is now,
and will be the eternal home of all the redeemed of God.
A.
Heaven is real.
Gen
2:1,4; 2 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all
their vast array. 4 This is the account of the heavens and the earth
when they were created. When the LORD God made the earth and the
heavens--
Deut
10:14; To the LORD your God belong the heavens, even the highest
heavens, the earth and everything in it.
B.
Heaven is referred to as Gods' dwelling place.
2
Chron 6:25,33,39; 25 then hear from heaven and forgive the sin
of your people Israel and bring them back to the land you gave to
them and their fathers. 33 then hear from heaven, your dwelling
place, and do whatever the foreigner asks of you, so that all the
peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your own
people Israel, and may know that this house I have built bears your
Name. 35 then hear from heaven their prayer and their plea, and
uphold their cause. 39 then from heaven, your dwelling place, hear
their prayer and their pleas, and uphold their cause. And forgive
your people, who have sinned against you.
Heb
4:14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone
through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the
faith we profess.
Dan
4:26 The command to leave the stump of the tree with its roots
means that your kingdom will be restored to you when you acknowledge
that Heaven rules.
C.
The Bible says that the Heavens were created by God Himself.
1
Chr 16:26 For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD
made the heavens.
Job
9:8 He alone stretches out the heavens and treads on the waves of
the sea.
2.
There are actually three Heavens that are mentioned in the Bible.
A.
The third Heaven;
This
is where the presence of God exists, sometimes called Paradise in
some verses of Scripture. This is the Most Holy Place, the throne
room of God.
2
Cor 12:1-4 1 I must go on boasting. Although there is nothing to
be gained, I will go on to visions and revelations from the Lord. 2 I
know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the
third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not
know-- God knows. 3 And I know that this man-- whether in the body or
apart from the body I do not know, but God knows-- 4 was caught up to
paradise. He heard inexpressible things, things that man is not
permitted to tell.
Lu
23:43 Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you
will be with me in paradise."
Rev
2:7 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the
churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the
tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.
Heb
9:24 For Christ did not enter a man-made sanctuary that was only
a copy of the true one; he entered heaven itself, now to appear for
us in God's presence.
2
Chr 6:30-35; 30 then hear from heaven, your dwelling place.
Forgive, and deal with each man according to all he does, since you
know his heart (for you alone know the hearts of men), 31 so that
they will fear you and walk in your ways all the time they live in
the land you gave our fathers. 32 "As for the foreigner who does
not belong to your people Israel but has come from a distant land
because of your great name and your mighty hand and your outstretched
arm-- when he comes and prays toward this temple, 33 then hear from
heaven, your dwelling place, and do whatever the foreigner asks of
you, so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear
you, as do your own people Israel, and may know that this house I
have built bears your Name. 34 "When your people go to war
against their enemies, wherever you send them, and when they pray to
you toward this city you have chosen and the temple I have built for
your Name, 35 then hear from heaven their prayer and their plea, and
uphold their cause.
2
Chr 6:18 "But will God really dwell on earth with men? The
heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much less
this temple I have built!
2
Chr 2:6 But who is able to build a temple for him, since the
heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain him? Who then am I
to build a temple for him, except as a place to burn sacrifices
before him?
Matt
5:34 But I tell you, Do not swear at all: either by heaven, for
it is God's throne;
Rev
4:1 After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing
open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a
trumpet said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must take
place after this."
Acts
7:47-50; 47 But it was Solomon who built the house for him. 48
"However, the Most High does not live in houses made by men. As
the prophet says: 49 "`Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my
footstool. What kind of house will you build for me? says the Lord.
Or where will my resting place be? 50 Has not my hand made all these
things?'
Isa
66:1-4; 1 This is what the LORD says: "Heaven is my throne,
and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house you will build for
me? Where will my resting place be? 2 Has not my hand made all these
things, and so they came into being?" declares the LORD. "This
is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and
trembles at my word. 3 But whoever sacrifices a bull is like one who
kills a man, and whoever offers a lamb, like one who breaks a dog's
neck; whoever makes a grain offering is like one who presents pig's
blood, and whoever burns memorial incense, like one who worships an
idol. They have chosen their own ways, and their souls delight in
their abominations; 4 so I also will choose harsh treatment for them
and will bring upon them what they dread. For when I called, no one
answered, when I spoke, no one listened. They did evil in my sight
and chose what displeases me."
B.
The Second Heaven;
This
is the Heaven that contains all the planets and stars that we see in
the night skies. This is the one that the prophets spoke of as being
darkened just prior to the return of Crist to the earth.
Joel
2:10 Before them the earth shakes, the sky trembles, the sun and
moon are darkened, and the stars no longer shine.
Joel
2:30 I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood
and fire and billows of smoke.
Hag
2:6 "This is what the LORD Almighty says: `In a little while
I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry
land.
Isa
50:3 I clothe the sky with darkness and make sackcloth its
covering."
Isa
51:6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, look at the earth beneath;
the heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a
garment and its inhabitants die like flies. But my salvation will
last forever, my righteousness will never fail.
Isa
13:13 Therefore I will make the heavens tremble; and the earth
will shake from its place at the wrath of the LORD Almighty, in the
day of his burning anger.
Isa
34:4 All the stars of the heavens will be dissolved and the sky
rolled up like a scroll; all the starry host will fall like withered
leaves from the vine, like shriveled figs from the fig tree.
C.
The First Heaven;
This
is what we know as the atmosphere and all that it contains.
Gen
1:8 God called the expanse "sky." And there was
evening, and there was morning-- the second day.
2.
The New Heavens and New Earth will replace the old. In these places
there will be all of the redeemed of the Lord. Here will be the hub
of the universe and all of the activity that will take place for all
eternity.
A.
It will be new.
Rev
21:1a Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first
heaven and the first earth had passed away,
B.
There will be no more sea.

21:1b and there was no longer any sea.
C.
There will not be any more tears or death there.
Rev
21:4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no
more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things
has passed away."
D.
No longer will we worship an invisible God, for the Bible says that
we shall see Him as He is. All worship will be centered around God
and His Lamb instead of an earthly temple.
Rev
21:22 I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God
Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
E.
There is no darkness or night there.
Rev
21:23-26; 23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine
on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.
24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth
will bring their splendor into it. 25 On no day will its gates ever
be shut, for there will be no night there. 26 The glory and honor of
the nations will be brought into it.
Rev
22:5 There will be no more night. They will not need the light of
a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them
light. And they will reign for ever and ever.
We
do not know exactly what we will be doing in Heaven for eternity, but
what we do know is that we will be worshipping God and serving Him
forever. We must keep in mind that we are speaking of "eternity"
and not something related to time. In eternity there will be no
concept or thought of how long we have been there. With that in
mind, boredom cannot be an issue. We must also trust God that
whatever we will be doing, it will be nothing but complete joy for
there will be no more sorrow or tears in Heaven.
