AM
I DOING THE PERFECT WILL OF GOD?
Matt
7:21
The
surrendered life involves the denial of sin, the denial of self, the
submission of one's self to God and the life that is led by His
Spirit. Scripture points out the necessities that are to be focal
points in an individual's life that would answer that question that
Matt 7:21 brings up in our minds and a large part of it is found in
Romans.
Romans
12:1,2 (KJV) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of
God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,
acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not
conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of
your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and
perfect will of God.
In
these two verses, are the keys to finding the answer to "Am I
doing the will of God?"
1.
Present your bodies a living sacrifice.
Sacrifice
is defined as follows:
an
act of offering to deity something precious; the killing of a victim
on an altar; something offered in sacrifice. destruction or surrender
of something for the sake of something else. to suffer loss of, give
up, renounce, injure, or destroy.
2.
Make your body holy.
The
Greek word here means to "set apart from sin and be consecrated
to God."
How
can we do this? 2 Cor 7:1
3.
Make yourself acceptable to God.
The
ability to do this is rooted in "faith". We began being
acceptable to God when we accepted Him and the sacrifice that He made
for us. Before this, we were at enmity with Him. The roots of faith
that were established when we received Christ are not to wither and
die but are to continue to grow into trees of righteousness. Matt
13:3-8
4.
Render reasonable service to God.
This
is done from the heart, with the intelligence of our minds as we
understand His Word. It is not irrational actions of exaggeration. It
is not by works as our consciences have been cleansed from dead
works, it is only by fearfully and reverently serving God. 1 Pet
4:11
5.
Not being conformed to this world.
Our
citizenship is not of this world, therefore why should we partake of
it's offerings of sinful desires? Phil 3:20-21
6.
Being transformed by the renewing of the mind. (metamorphoo)
Titus
3:5
We
must allow the Holy Spirit to do His work in us that we might be able
to do that "perfect and acceptable will of God". This
is done by living the surrendered life which we looked at last time.
