What does
“You can be born once and die twice or be born twice and die
once” mean? We are all born from our mother’s womb into
this world and then we die. Without being born a second time, we will
die once again after our names are blotted out of the Lamb’s
book of life at the Great White Throne judgment. This second death is
much worse than the first because our sentence will be finalized;
Eternal death (separation from God) will take place with no chance
for change. Imagine, eternal punishment for a life of sin that is
less than equal to a vapor of smoke in comparison to eternity.
Jesus
said, “You must be born again.” To have eternal life, we
must be born a second time. If we experience this second birth into
God’s kingdom, we will only die a physical death and not a
spiritual one. Our sins are judged at that point and never counted
against us again. Eternal life with God is our reward for accepting
by faith that the Son of God, Jesus, died for our sins.
