RECEIVING
COMFORT
Many times
in our lives we find ourselves in need of comfort; physically,
mentally and emotionally. How do we as Christians acquire comfort.
Is it always attainable or is it sometimes unavailable? The Bible
gives us several options for receiving comfort during our times of
need. God has not forsaken us in anything, He has given us
"everything that pertains to life and godliness."
THERE
ARE 150 SCRIPTURES THAT REFER TO COMFORT OR HELP IN THE NAVES TOPICAL
BIBLE
1.
Primarily, we should look to God our Father for relief from a
distressing situation. 2 Cor 1:3; Isa 51:3
Prayer,
meditation and supplications. "Let your requests be made known
to God and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding shall
keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Phil 4:7
2. The
Holy Spirit is a source of comfort. Acts 9:31
The
Paraclete of God. (also found in 1 Cor 14:3) John 14; "I
will not leave you comfortless."

Word of God is a strength and a comfort. Rom 15:4; I
Thes 4:18

the gifts of the Spirit is there for us to draw from. Prophecy is
God speaking directly to our hearts by His Holy Spirit. 1 Cor

in need of comfort and when prophecy comes it is a comfort to that
person in need.

in the form of Christ’s love is a real help in times of need.

valley of the shadow of death"

8. Another
option that we have is remembering Gods judgments. Ps 119:52

Proverbs and Psalms speak much of wicked men receiving judgment.

very last place that we should look for comfort is ourselves. Job
9:27
Really, we
cannot receive comfort from ourselves.
