GOD'S INVITATIONS TO HIS PEOPLE

God has made some marvelous invitations in His Word to those who would accept the wonderful things of God. An invitation by God is a form of His hospitality and love for us. Our Father wants close fellowship with us and He has extended His hand to us in His Word.

1. Isa 1:18 Come let us reason together!

We must settle our differences with God from the beginning. We must come to understand our sinfulness and the death that it brings and the holiness of God and how that without agreeing to God's ways, we can never be clean..

2. Isa 26:20 Come my people and be spared.

In reference to the "woman" of Revelation 12, God invites her to be saved from the wrath that will be poured out on the world.

3. Isa 55:1 Come and buy that which costs nothing.

No money is needed for the purchase of these things, but there is a great cost. We must give up our desires and let God's desires become ours.

4. Isa 55:3 Come and live.

The everlasting New Covenant of God through Jesus Christ allows life eternal to be possible to those who would do that in vs 1..

5. John 1:46 Come and see.

Jesus was the best thing that ever came out of anywhere including Nazereth. As Nathaniel saw Jesus for who He was, we must also see Him as the Son of God.

6. Matt 11:28 Come and rest.

The first recorded invitation by Jesus. He is speaking to those who are weary and tired from working, and those who are tired from carrying the burden of sin.

7. Mark 1:17 Follow after Jesus

To do what Jesus expects of us in being fishers of men is of primary imprortance to the kingdom of God.

8. Mark 10:21 Come and take up the cross.

This is speaking to us to die daily. Crucifying the flesh which according to Romans 6 doesn't live any longer. It's dead legally but experientially, it still is a factor in our lives that must be dealt with.

9. Matt 22:4 Come to the marriage of the Lamb.

This parable is in symbolic reference to the marriage supper of the Lamb. The guests are bid to come to the marriage that God has prepared for His Son.

10 Luke 14:17 All things are ready.

It was customary to send out two invitations to a wedding. One announcing it and another when all was ready. Right now almost all things are ready.

11. Matt 25:34Come you blessed of the Lord.

As heirs with Christ, we are invited to share in His inheritance as sons and daughters of God.

12. Rev 22:17 The threefold invitation to eternal life.

Those who hear, those who are thirsty, and those who will come. God has made the invitation to all, but not all can or will hear ,not all are thirsty, not all will come.
