ASSURANCE OF JUSTIFICATION
1
Cor 6:9 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were
washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the
Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
This
means we are washed completely and fully (sins washed away) made
holy, sanctified and made completely innocent and free by
the atonement that Jesus Christ made for us.
Luke
18:9 13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up
so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying,
God be merciful to me a sinner. 14 I tell you, this man went down to
his house justified rather than the other: for every one that
exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall
be exalted.
If
we have confidence in our own righteousness, we are not justified,
but if we have confidence in what Jesus Christ has done, we are
justified.
The
publican or tax collector realized his sinfulness and called out to
God in repentance and was justified where as the Pharisee did not
recognize his sinfulness because he was deceived in thinking that he
was righteous in himself.
Romans
4:5 However, to the man who does not work but trusts God who
justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness.
We
must not try to work to be justified. Justification only comes by
faith (completely trusting in Jesus Christs' sacrifice for us on the
cross and his resurrection from the dead
Romans
5:9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more
shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!
We
are safe in Jesus if we trust Him as Lord and Savior. We are
delivered, protected, saved, and healed from our sins.
Romans
5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have
peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have
gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we
rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.
By
the grace of God, that unmerited favor that He has shown us, we are
justified. (made innocent before God)
All
of Gods' promises of salvation and being justified are conditional.
First we must acknowledge Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and
Savior then we must continue to live our lives in Him and obey
His commandments
1
John 2:27 29 As for you, the anointing you received from him
remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his
anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real,
not counterfeit just as it has taught you, remain in him.
28 And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears
we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming. 29 If you
know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who does what is
right has been born of him.
Gal
3:24 29 So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that
we might be justified by faith. 25 Now that faith has come, we are no
longer under the supervision of the law. 26 You are all sons of God
through faith in Christ Jesus, 27 for all of you who were baptized
into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither
Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one
in Christ Jesus. 29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's
seed, and heirs according to the promise.
We
must belong to Christ in order to be justified and remain justified.
Col
1:20 23 and through him to reconcile to himself all things,
whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through
his blood, shed on the cross. 21 Once you were alienated from God and
were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. 22 But now
he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to
present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from
accusation 23 if you continue in your faith, established
and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the
gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature
under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.
That
great expanse that separated us from God is now closed up and we have
been reconciled to Him. (Brought together)
Isaiah
43:25 "I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for
my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.
Our
sins have been blotted out! Rubbed out! Erased!! Wiped out!!
Through Jesus Christ. we are justified, made innocent before God.
