There are two things on which all interpretation of Scripture depends: the mode of ascertaining the proper meaning, and the mode of making known the meaning when it is ascertained.”

St. Augustine

2 Tim 3:10

But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance,

(NKJ)

As Timothy followed the Apostle Paul's teachings, I have endeavored to follow the teachings of men I know who are not influenced by doctrine of men but of God. The teachings I have received and maintain, are built upon integrity and great character within some of the greatest men I could ever have the privilege to know.

The doctrine in a persons life is revealed in;

1. What they believe

2. Who they believe in

3. Why they believe it

Doctrine determines;

1. Character - what we are

2. Behavior - what we do

3. Destiny - where we go

1 Tim 4:16

Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

(KJV)

The doctrine of God existed before man and the church, (Jn 1:1-2) it is not doctrines' error that;

1. Divisions in Christiandom exist. (denominations)

2. Philosophies of man are interjected into true doctrine from which heresies are formed
